Santonin: A Sesquiterpene Lactone Used as an Anthelmintic and a Synthetic Intermediate of Bioactive Terpenes
Santonin, a sesquiterpene lactone, is commonly found in the plants of the family Compositae, for example Artemisia. Santonin has been used as an anthelmintic agent, and has also been reported to possess diverse bioactivities including antioxidant, anti-inflammation, immunosuppressive, etc.1,2) In addition, santonin has been used as a synthetic intermediate of bioactive terpene compounds.3,4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
