Application
Etofibrate: A Hybrid Hypolipidemic Agent which Combines Nicotinic Acid (Niacin) with Clofibrate
Etofibrate is a hypolipidemic fibrate which combines nicotinic acid (niacin) [N0082] with clofibrate [C0941]. After contact with plasma hydrolases, both active constituents are gradually released in a controlled-release manner. The fibrates, including etofibrate, are lower elevated serum lipids by decreasing the low density lipoprotein (LDL) fraction rich in cholesterol and the very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) fraction rich in triglycerides. In addition, fibrates increase the high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol fraction. (The product is for research purpose only.)
